My Home Away From Home

My Grandparent’s Home

I have always called a lot of places home growing up, from Florida to California and back. There was always one place that stayed close to me, and that was my grandparent’s house. For as long as I could remember they lived in the same two-story house in Cocoa Beach, Florida. I loved every single square foot of it from the pool that I swam in for hours to the bedroom where I always anxiously awaited Christmas morning.  Going to my grandparent’s house was always what I looked forward to the most.

Location

Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach is a very beautiful place. The water is amazing, and the weather is no exception when it comes to sunny Florida weather. I cannot recall a day I was there where it was not a nice day. I remember one Christmas my family and I walked on the beach because it was so nice out. Another good thing about Cocoa Beach is that it is only an hour away from Orlando. As a result of this, I went to every theme park growing up. It was always a blast racing around the park to get to the next ride. My favorite park was Universal Studios because I love how they implemented Harry Potter. I have realized while growing up that going to all these theme parks is an experience that people from all over the world travel for. This realization made me extremely grateful for how often I did get to go to all these parks, and it made me cherish them even more.to all these theme parks is an experience that people from all over the world travel for. Family

What amazed me the most about my grandparent’s house is that it seemed to bring my family closer together. There was never a moment where one of us was unhappy, and I think that is one of the reasons why I loved it there so much. We were always having a good time together whether it be in the pool or at the dinner table. Other families were also brought together at the house. Every Christmas Eve we would have dinner at my grandparent’s house after church, and there were always at least four different families with us. We would all talk and laugh over steak and crab legs for the whole night.

The Move

Unfortunately like most good things, it came to an end. My grandpa recently got a new job in Seattle, so they sold the house and moved. The saddest part about it is that I did not even get a chance to visit the house one last time. I was extremely torn when I found out I would never visit there again, but it only makes me cherish the memories I have there even more. It gave me a realization that not every amazing thing in your life is going to stay there, so always enjoy it while it is there.
